Cannabis Amnesty
We've created a long-term partnership with Cannabis Amnesty, and are finding new ways to help them amplify the work they are doing.
Understanding their mission
Cannabis Amnesty is an organization that works to undo the harms caused by the criminalization of cannabis, which disproportionately targets Black, Indigenous, and vulnerable members of society.
- In the past 15 years, Canadian police agencies reported more than 800,000 cannabis possession “incidents” to StatCan.
- An estimated 500,000 Canadians currently have a criminal record for cannabis possession.
- As a result of their criminal records, many Canadians face difficulties travelling to the United States, volunteering in their community, and finding meaningful employment.
- All fundraising will be used exclusively to pay for operating expenses, to fairly compensate our service providers, to develop resources to advocate for change and to educate Canadians about the injustices that currently exist as a result of the historical prohibition of cannabis.
